By accessing or using MergeCompress ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

MergeCompress provides free browser-based utilities for working with PDF documents and images, including merging, splitting and compressing PDFs, converting between JPG and PDF, and resizing, compressing and converting images. All processing occurs locally in your web browser; no files are uploaded to our servers.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to process material you have no legal right to use, or in any way that violates applicable law. Because processing happens on your own device, you are solely responsible for the files you choose to process and for complying with copyright and other rights.

4. No account required

The Service requires no registration. We may introduce optional features in the future, but the core tools will remain free to use without an account.

5. Intellectual property

The MergeCompress name, design and original content of this website are our property. The open-source libraries powering the tools (such as pdf-lib, jsPDF and pdf.js) remain the property of their respective authors under their own licenses. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your files to us — your files remain entirely yours.

6. Availability and changes

The Service is provided free of charge and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time without notice. We make reasonable efforts to keep the tools working across modern browsers but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. In particular, browser-based PDF compression is best-effort and results vary by document.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MergeCompress and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Because files are processed on your device, we recommend keeping backups of important documents before processing.

9. Third-party services

The site may display advertising served by third parties and load open-source libraries from public CDNs. Your interaction with those third parties is governed by their own terms and policies.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms occasionally. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date above indicates the current version.
