Split PDF into Pages

Extract individual pages or custom page ranges from any PDF. Free, private, and instant — everything happens in your browser.

Need just a few pages from a long PDF? Our free split PDF tool lets you pull out exactly the pages you want — either extract a custom range into one new PDF, or split the whole document into one PDF per page.

Page ranges are easy to write: enter something like 1-3, 5, 8-10 to extract those pages in order. The tool checks that every number is valid for your file and removes duplicates automatically.

As with all MergeCompress tools, splitting runs entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and there are no watermarks on the pages you extract.

How to split a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF onto the dropzone above (or click to browse). The tool will show how many pages it detected.
  2. To extract specific pages: type a range like 1-3, 5, 8-10 and click Extract range as one PDF.
  3. To split the whole document: click Split every page. Each page downloads as its own PDF.
  4. If your browser asks for permission to download multiple files, allow it so every page can save.

Frequently asked questions

How are pages numbered?

Pages start at 1, matching what you see in any PDF viewer. A range like 1-3 extracts the first three pages.

Can I split password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked before they can be processed. Open the PDF in your viewer, save an unlocked copy, and split that.

Is there a page limit?

No set limit. Splitting every page of a very long document (hundreds of pages) may take a moment and trigger multiple download prompts.

Are my files private?

Yes. Your PDF is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded to any server.
