Compress PDF File Size
Shrink your PDF file size right in your browser. Free, no signup, no watermark — and your files never leave your device.
PDFs get bloated — especially scanned documents and reports full of high-resolution images. Our free compress PDF tool re-renders each page at an optimized resolution and rebuilds a leaner PDF, cutting file size dramatically — often 50–90% for image-heavy documents.
Choose your compression level: High for the smallest file (great for email and uploads), Medium for a balanced result, or Low when you want to keep near-original quality.
Everything is processed locally on your device. No uploads, no accounts, no watermarks — just a smaller PDF, ready to download in seconds.
Compress PDF
Upload a PDF, pick a compression level, and download a genuinely smaller file. Works best on scanned and image-heavy PDFs. Note: pages are re-rendered as optimized images, so text in the compressed PDF won't be selectable — keep your original if you need to copy text from it.

Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the document. Scanned and image-heavy PDFs often shrink 50–90% on High. Text-only PDFs are already tiny and won't shrink much — there's simply nothing to optimize.
Will compression reduce quality?
Higher compression = smaller file = slightly softer images. Medium suits most uses; choose Low if the PDF will be printed. Text stays perfectly readable at all levels.
Why isn't the text selectable in the compressed PDF?
To achieve real size reduction, pages are re-rendered as optimized images. Keep your original file if you need to select or copy text from it.
Is there a page limit?
Yes — up to 50 pages per file, to keep your browser fast and stable. Split larger documents with our Split PDF tool first if needed.
