What is MergeCompress?

MergeCompress is a free collection of online tools for everyday file tasks: merging and splitting PDFs, compressing PDFs, converting between JPG and PDF, and resizing, compressing and converting images. It was built around one simple idea — file tools should not require you to hand your documents to a stranger's server.

Private by design

Almost every "free" online converter works the same way: you upload your file, it gets processed on someone else's computer, and you are asked to trust that it gets deleted afterwards. That model is convenient for the operator and risky for you — especially with contracts, medical records, ID scans, financial statements or unreleased work.

MergeCompress takes the opposite approach. Every tool on this site runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are read from your device, processed in your device's memory, and the result is saved straight back to your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on our servers, and there is no server-side copy to leak, subpoena or "retain for quality improvement."

Free, without the usual catches

There are no accounts, no subscriptions and no paywalled "pro" tiers. Output files carry no watermarks. We believe basic file utilities are infrastructure — like a calculator — and should simply work.

How the site is funded

MergeCompress is supported by advertising. Because the tools themselves need no backend, operating costs are minimal, which is what makes it possible to keep everything free.
